Trinidad  Museum 'Palacio Cantero'

Faces onto the Simon Bolivar street, is the beautiful Neo Classical Palacio Cantero. One of the most impressive house, surrounding Plaza Mayor - Trinidad Colonial town center.

The mansion originally built in the early 1800s by one of the richest men in Cuba, Don Pedro Jose Iznaga Borrell, it belonged to the Borrel family and was later bought by German man Cantero.

Today is Municipal Museum, the most interesting museum in Trinidad, which details the history of Trinidad region. It features a spacious entrance hall that opens on to a large galleried courtyard.

Original frescoes survive on the plasterwork of the main hall. Palacio Cantero with Italian marble floors and large open rooms, explores the history of Trinidad, surrounding areas, and the slave trading era.

On display are documents, exponents from the wars of independence. Mansion tower is accessible from the courtyard, gives panoramic views over the Colonial Trinidad and the sea.
