Town structure consists of a gorgeous Main Square that has a statue of the Terpsichore - Muse of Music and Dance, to bring inspiration to dancers. The square is flanked by Holy Trinity Church. Spanish conquistador Cortes set out from here for Mexico in 1518.

Trinidad was declared by UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1988 along with the Valle los Ingenios.
In 1790 there were 56 sugar mills operates and 12,000 slaves work in the sugar cane fields. At the time region had a population of 28,000 inhabitants.

In the early 19th century slaves revolt in Haiti caused French planters to flee to Trinidad. Slaves contributed to the formation of Cuban nationality, as they brought along their African customs, traditions, songs and dances, as well as their African religions.
In addition to its cultural wealth and exuberant nature, Trinidad also brags spectacular Valle de los Ingenios, a unique Sugar Valley, the best view is from Iznaga Tower.


Museum of Colonial Architecture
Tourists who are interesting of the Colonial architecture the Museo de Arquitectura Colonial is the place to visit. Museum has collections of architectural decoration as: doors, handles, locks, windows, grills, Museum also offers guided tours through the historic streets of Trinidad. The museum is housed in two 18th Century buildings, Sanchez Iznaga residence. Located right at the town main town square.

Museum of Guamuhaya Archaeology
The museum offer a view of the developments from Cuban pre Columbian past. This building was originally two houses in the 18th century, both owned by the sugar barons of the Sanchez Iznaga family, two houses joined in the 19th century show the typical grilled and shuttered windows, feature an elegant portico with slim columns and a delicate wrought iron balustrade.

Inside, the museum features items from Trinidad's architectural history including an elaborate 19th century shower. Located at Plaza Mayor-Simon Bolivar #457.

Palacio Cantero
Municipal Museum, is the most interesting museum in Trinidad, built in 1827. Since 1980, the museum's halls have exhibited collections on the extraordinary history of the region.

Including archeological artifacts from aboriginal cultures, furniture, arts from slave trade era, weapons from wars of independence.

All the museums are open: Tuesday to Sunday from 9am to 5pm.

Trinidad is 80 km east of Cienfuegos, 106 km south of Santa Clara. About 335 km from Havana, and 262 km from Varadero.

Romantic Museum - Museo Romantico
The museum is overlooking the Trinidad main square.
Has excellent exhibition of romantic style porcelain, glass, paintings and decorative furniture which belonged to the Conde de Brunet family, dating from 1830. Street Hernandez #52

Valle de los Ingenios a World Heritage Site, also known as Valle de San Luis, on the road to Sancti Spiritus, east of Trinidad. Stretched out over 25 miles between Trinidad and Sancti Spiritus, the valley offers views of a gorgeous countryside with old haciendas, castels and slaves houses.
Stunning view of the landscape, and the best way to see the entire Valley is from Mirador de La Loma del Puertos. High lookout, located on the road from the Trinidad to the Sancti Spiritus.
In the center of the valley rise Torre Manacas Iznaga symbol of the former glory of the sugar aristocracy. Manaca Iznaga Tower, stands next to the Pedro Iznaga hacienda, it was used to watch slaves. Today his house is well-known restaurant.
It is possible to tour the valley by car or horseback, with or without a guide. Valley horse riding tours are a popular way to see the sights. Tourists can explore Valle de los Ingenios by fantastic Old Steam Train.

Ancon beach - zoom in

Those who are looking for beaches, will find a four kilometers peninsula of fine sands and shallow clean waters. You can get there by air condition mini bus, from Trinidad Colonial center to Ancon beach, round trip cost CUC$ 2.

Ancon Beach, the beach is lovely, pure white sand and clean turquoise water, just 8 km from Trinidad. You can hire a Taxi for $CUC 19 from Trinidad to Playa Ancon via La Boca. Small fishing village "La Boca" located about 6 km south of Trinidad, where there are lots of birds at the coast. Ancone peninsula offer an excellent Scuba Diving and Snorkeling.

Cayo Iguana located about 20 miles of the Trinidad shore, and is one of the most breathtaking destinations. Diversity of
the marine live and natural beauty of the Iguana Island attracts many tourists seeking relaxation and adventure.
Every day at 9 am Yacht is leaving from Marlin Marina, Ancon beach to Cayo Iguana and Cayo Balnco, cost CUC$ 40 per person, if purchase at the hotel. Lunch and snorkeling equipment are included.

Topes de Collantes National Park, five kilometers to the west, a road leads north and climbs into the Escambray Range
swathed in Caribbean Pines and an abundance of tree ferns, bamboo and eucalyptus. At Topes de Collantes, visit Vega Grande Waterfalls and Batata Cave, where an underground river form numerous pools.

Canchanchara it’s is a drink of the region, made from lemon juice, honey and Santero Cuban rum, serve in glazed ceramic pots.

This blend mixes with the magic of a place frozen in colonial time, this was the drink of the Mambises - Cuban Liberating Army.
