General Serafin Sanchez Valdivia, Cuban War Hero - Sancti Spiritus, Cuba
Born in Sancti Spiritus in June 2, 1846. He was a combatant who fought the three wars of independence in the XIX century and was conferred the degree of Major General and Inspector General of the Cuban Liberation Army.

From the beginning of the fight of emancipation, the patriot from Sancti Spiritus Serafin Sanchez Valdivia showed his capacity of sacrifice and courage, before the most difficult situations, he ended up for his heroism to be bigger General of the Liberator Army and he was present in most significant wars for the independence.

March 1895 when the war had loosened in Cuba, he left to Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Accompany of La Fernandina, Serafin Sanchez organized with Carlos Roloff, an expedition with the resources contributed by the Cuban tobacconists in Cayo Hueso, and he disembarked on the coast of Sancti Spiritus in July 24 1895.
