There's plenty to explore in Havana’s world of arts. Every year important events are hold in Havana: Jazz Plaza festival, International theater festival, Cubadisco, Cuballet, Cubadanza and Folkuba. Several museums are located in Old Havana, contain: furniture, silverware, pottery, glass and other items from the colonial period. Havana is a cultural melting pot, here you can experience all type of melodies from Cuban salsa, mambo, son and guaguanco styles to Latin Jazz and Buena Vista type of music. Havana’s art gallerias you will find impassive collection of contemporary Cuban paintings.  Painting is the most genuine expression of fine arts on the island. Cuban artist today are abundant, they provide a mixture of past and future conceptions that are creating a worldwide attraction to the works, Same of the most know modern painters are: Roberto Fabelo, Pedro Pablo Oliva, Mariano Rodriguez, Tomas Sanchez.  Music is undoubtedly the one that has influenced more the personality of Cuban people. The Habanera, rhythm born from the danza criolla and the contradanza, received its influence from the tango and rhythms of South America. The Cuban musician who had more influence on the process of evolution of Cuban and Caribbean music was Benny More. Cuban salsa, well known today almost everywhere in the world. Buena Vista Social Club album was one of three projects recorded during the two-week session organized by World Circuit Records in Havana, March 1996. The Buena Vista Social Club is Cuban music the best selling and Grammy winning album, legendary performers Ry & Joaquim Cooder, Ibrahim Ferrer, Ruben Gonzales, Eliades Ochoa, Omara Portuondo, Compay Segundo and many renowned Cuban musicians.  |
